Concerts at CCRMA feature new and recent computer music by graduate students, faculty, and guests. Classic works and recent music from other studios and composers are also occasionally programmed. Colloquia and concerts are announced via a mailing list.

  • the future of terror: Liz Pearse, soprano, & Elise Roy, flute

     Soprano Liz Pearse & flutist Elise Roy visit CCRMA to premiere Stanford-composer Kurt Isaacson's song cycle the future of terror, an extensive work that sets the poetry of Matthea Harvey.

    Also featured on this program, Elise Roy will perform Mark Applebaum's Entre Funérailles IV.

  • Concert: Andrew May, Imaginary Conversations for electric violin and computer

    Composer, violinist, computer musician, and improviser Andrew May has spent two decades (on and off) wrestling with the aesthetic and practical issues of making chamber music with the computer, using the various Max-family graphic dataflow languages (currently Pure Data).  His CD Imaginary Friends (Ravello Records) presents some snapshots of the first decade of this research. His latest thoughts on the subject take the form of works for violin and computer; sometimes the only morally acceptable choice is to experiment on yourself.

  • Concert: Nicola Baroni presents "Zadig: Voltaire meets Kaftka", cello and Hypercello

     CCRMA presents Nicola Baroni performing a concert of works on Cello and Hypercello entitled "ZADIG: VOLTAIRE MEETS KAFKA"

    Nicola joins us as part of his 2014 tour in the US (New York, Florida, California) with the Italian composer Massimiliano Messieri, in part financed by Italian institutions, and the MASK-association.

    Nicola Baroni is a PhD researcher at the University of Edinburgh involved in contemporary music, improvisation and software composition, as well as a cello soloist, teaching Cello in Italy at the Bozen Conservatory.

    We are delighted to present  two concerts by the wonderful JACK Quartet. Comprising violinists Christopher Otto and Ari Streisfeld, violist John Pickford Richards, and cellist Kevin McFarland, JACK is focused on the commissioning and performance of new works. 

    Concert 1 takes place on Sunday 20th April at 7:00pm with recent works from their repetoire for string quartet and string quartet with electronics. Concert 2 takes place on Tuesday 22nd April at 7.30pm with new works by Stanford Composers for string quartet and string quartet with electronics.
