Concerts at CCRMA feature new and recent computer music by graduate students, faculty, and guests. Classic works and recent music from other studios and composers are also occasionally programmed. Colloquia and concerts are announced via a mailing list.

    CCRMA presents an evening of Distributed Ensembles and New Music from around the world in real time

    Live performances from Switzerland, France, Virginia, Newfoundland, Colombia/Brazil and Kansas City connect across the internet as performers around the globe Jack-in to Stanford's Bing Studio and play in real-time with their Stanford counterparts.  The evening will be presented using CCRMA's immersive 24.6 speaker system, surrounding the audience in a spectacularly clear sound field.

    CCRMA is excited to present Crystal Mooncone in a free concert in the CCRMA Stage.

    “We use music we find on the streets and in the forests and play them with our laptops. We play accordions, guitars, balloons, organs, and pianos. We play pretty music and we play noise. We care if you listen. We play for dancers and and video and in the dark. We record in canoes, in swamps, and in studios, and perform in Europe, India, and the U.S.”

  • Natural Artefacts

    Natural Artefacts, made its start from collaboration over several years between the composer Per Anders Nilsson and the musicians Susanna Lindeborg and Ove Johansson. The trio is developing a concept where the computer and electronics act as a completely integrated musical instrument. The sound is a unique mix between live electronics, jazz, impro and new music. Here they collaborate with Gino Robair on drums and percussion. Natural Artafacts has been performing in USA at CNMAT, Berkeley California, Sonic circuit X festival in Berklee Boston, Buffalo University and EMF New York. Per Anders Nilsson has a background as jazz musician but is now a professor at the Academy of Music and Drama at Gothenburg University.

  • David Tudor's Rainforest IV

    This Monday Jan 27 starting at 7PM you will be able to witness Rainforest IV a seminal performance/installation by David Tudor from 1973. It will be created by Constantin Basica, Alex Chechile, Melanie Goldstein, Emily Graber, Elliot Kermit-Canfield, Jessie Marino, Shu Yu Lin, Kara Riopelle, Hana Shin, Eoin Callery and Paul DeMarinis. CCRMA Stage will be transformed by a collection of found objects floating in the air brought to a resonant new life as electronic instruments.

    Stanford's contribution to this project consists of a new piece by Ivan
    Naranjo (2nd year DMA) and a new interactive video piece by Eoin Callery (3rd year DMA).
