Digital Audio Effects: A Digital Signal Processing Primer for Musicians and Audio Engineers
This course will explore the signal processing fundamentals behind popular audio effects. Examples include dynamic range compression, equalization, nonlinear distortion, and delay-based effects like reverberation.
The structure of this course will include presentations focusing on theory, your very own software implementation of several audio effects plug-ins (c++/python), and recording studio applications of these effects.
A particular emphasis will be given to understanding how these algorithms work as well as common studio practices.
Some exposure to programming and signal processing would be nice but is not strictly necessary.
This workshop will be taught in person, and will have a hybrid option for a lower cost that will include all lectures, but will not have project support.
