About Me: 
Patricia Martinez was born in Argentina. She is an active composer, improviser, pianist, performer of electronics and experimental multi-disciplinary artist. Since the last fifteen years, she is working specially with video art and poetry related with music. She composed music for ensembles and electroacoustic, for more than twenty multidisciplinary, dance and theater works. She is one of the awarded composers of the First Prize of Music Composition from the Buenos Aires City Government, with a life-grant. She was conductor and performer of different ensembles of experimental, contemporary and improvisation music in Buenos Aires, Paris, Amherst and Stanford, such as: Zhéffiro, La Nada, ThrYzaS, Robots&Cockroaches, Experimenta, Arsis, Stanford New Ensemble. Actually she is singer of Seraphim Ensemble (new early music). She is member and organizer of FASE, an organization for contemporary music and politics (from 2001). She was organizing member of the International Festival Experimenta (1997-2000) and others different series of artistic events in Argentina, United States and France. She get her undergraduate degree in Music Composition at the University of Quilmes, also a Superior Professorate on Piano at the Municipal Conservatory of Music (Arg.); the Annual Course on Computer Music at the IRCAM (Fr., 1996/97); and get a Master of Musical Arts degree in Music Composition (Stanford University). She is Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition (DMA) from Stanford University. Brian Ferneyhough was her advisor. Her works received awards such as: 1st prize at "The International Young Composers' Meeting" (Holland); 2nd prize at "Diffusion" (Ireland); residence at the" International Competition of Electroacoustic Music" (France); mention at "Pierre Schaeffer International Competition of Computer Music" (Italy); 5º prize at "The 60 seconds Piano Composition Competition" ParisNewMusicReview (USA); selected at "The International Competition of Composers and interpreters Deutsche Gesellschaft Flute" (Germany); 1st prize at the "National Composition Competition J.C.Paz"; the "Toda La Data Competition"; 1st Prize TRIME-TRINAC; SonoImagenes (Argentina). She received fellowships from: IRCAM, VCCA/UNESCO-Aschberg; Yvar Mikhashoff Trust For New Music Foundation; Bang on a Can Music Festival; Beheer Groep; National Fund of the Arts, University of Quilmes; Luigi Russolo Competition and commissions from Antorchas Foundation, Theater Municipal General San Martin, De Ereprijs, GMEB, CESARE, IRCAM, FNA, Culture Fund BA, ProDanza, ProTheater, Surplus, Alma Viva and Melos-Gandini Fellowship. She participated at events like: Festival Synthese (France); Yjsebreker (Holland); Symposium of Computer Music (Brazil); Days of electroacoustic music (Uruguay); Florida Festival of Electroacoustic Music (U.S.); The ISCM World Music Days (U.K.); Diffusion (Ireland); Thom Theater (South Africa); Experimenta (Arg-Chile); FUSION Festival (Costa Rica); Goethe Institut (Peru); Contemporary Music Festival, Tsonami, Elektronica Viva, Electroacoustic Week (Arg.). Her works are recorded on Wergo, Experimenta, Arte Sonoro and 80 Mundos Label.
