L'Itinéraire: Spectral Streams
FREE and Open to the Public | In Person + Livestream
L’Itinéraire is one of the main contemporary music ensembles in Europe. Founded in 1973, it gathered composers and performers around music creation. Over time, the ensemble l'Itinéraire has shared the artistic journey of several generations of musicians: its name is associated with spectral music.
Since its foundation, l’Itinéraire has premiered some of the most outstanding works from Grisey, Levinas, Murail, Dufourt, Tessier, Scelsi, Harvey, Romitelli among many others, with a special commitment to creating the new pieces of young composers.
Nowadays, l’Itinéraire still maintains the spirit of adventure from its beginnings. The ensemble constantly questions practices of musical creation and transmission, correlating its historical repertoire with the works of young composers and those with different esthetic approaches.
This will of sharing and discovery leads the ensemble to collaborate with musicians from many nationalites and esthetics, ranging from baroque to eletronic music. In the recent years the ensemble has performed in France, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Italy, USA and Israël.
L’Itinéraire leads several education programs in Paris in collaboration with Conseratoire de Bourg-la- Reine/Sceaux, Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris et the Musée d’Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne.
L’Itinéraire is supported by the French minisrty of Culture, SACEM, SPEDIDAM, Impuls Neue Musik, fonds franco-germano-suisse pour la musique contemporaine, Pro Helvetia, swiss arts council and the Ernst von Siemens music foundation.
