Name: Rave Stage

Description: Rave Stage is an audiovisual instrument. What if one person could be the musician and lighting controller, all at once? This interactive visual provides that, with they keyboard as the medium of choice. The keys play different sounds and map to different lighting, and the user can behold different combinations of colors, angles, and lighting combinations until audiovisual patterns start to emerge!

Reflection: This was a really fun project to make, since I've always thought about how the pandemic has affected our abilitiy to attend large-scale concerts. If we can't see a rave in person, for example, there must be some way to capitalize the uniqueness of a personal connection to an artist. In this case, the user is the artist! In making this project, I learned a lot about user interaction in unity, and I became very confortable working with prefabs as well. This is just a rough version of what I hope this can one day be, and I know there is a lot of opportunity to include many more lighting configurations and different effects!

User Instructions: The keyboard is an instrument! The user can hit any key to play a sound, and some keys map to configurations of lights that are quite intuitive to figure out. The B key will black out all lights, allowing for selective inclusion one by one, until all lights are fully shown on the screen!
