Apagón has been recorded in four weeks in the
Laboratorio Nacional de Musí Electroacustica of La Habana, Cuba,
in september 1998. Apagón is a collaborative effort between three musicians; myself, Michael Edwards and Diego "Habí" Ruiz, a 60 years old percusionist, a master of cuban percussions. The collaboration with Michael Edwards started in 1994 when we met first at CCRMA, Stanford The collaboration with Habí started with this recording in La Habana. The result of these collaboration is a combination of cuban traditional rhythms, audio signal processing and live electronics. ..."out of beat forced improvisation" and, as a result of all these things, a CD of experimental non new agey world music... ..and not least, the pleasure of working in the very stimulating and very alive music scene of Cuba. ...look in HERE to see what people say and think about Apagón and reviews from concerts |
