Getting Started with the Synthesis Tool Kit (STK) under Linux

This appendix provides a ``getting started'' guide for the Synthesis Tool Kit (STK) under Linux [80,86]. This guide is aimed at developers of STK software, as opposed to mere users. As a result, a couple of modifications will be introduced to facilitate software development (i.e., debugging C++ code). It is also assumed that some variant of UNIX is the resident operating system (Red Hat Fedora Core 4 + Planet CCRMA in the examples below).

It is assumed that the reader already has some familiarity with programming in C and hopefully also C++.
