how to

The "Laterna" was a quick, easy way for performers to make street music in the 19th century. Often called a barrel piano, the Laterna, was essentially a rotating cylinder with nails that would trigger a piano's hammers to strike the piano strings.

I decided to map an audio track onto a cylinder that will constantly be turning. You can select beginning and end points for what will be a loop from a portion of that audio file in an "editing window," and in the global view screen your laterna will be turning away and looping the selected portion from the audio file. You can then create new loops (laternas), set their looping bounds, set volume, and experiment with the barrel piano for the sampling generation!
