Elliot Kermit Canfield-Dafilou
a collaborative iPhone chord guessing game
Guess Chords is a social, harmonic dictation practice utility. It allows users to write chord sequences, which they can then listen to or upload to a server. A second mode downloads a chord sequence from the database which then serves as a modal for the user to try to identify. The app scores your attempts at guessing the chord progressions.
Guess Chords was inspired by its creator's affinity for music theory. Surprisingly, there are few music theory apps on the Apple App Store, and none of them serve as harmonic dictation study tools. For music majors and music enthusiasts, there are currently no options available for practicing and learning this critical musicianship skill.
Future features include difficulty modes, users/device pairing, and some self-study instructional tools (flashcards, etc).
