The STK documentation (online at the STK home page or in the release itself at doc/html/tutorial.html) includes a series of tutorials providing an overview of some STK-specific coding conventions, and several of the example programs in the projects/examples/ directory are discussed. This is an excellent time to go read through those tutorial pages.
