In this lecture, we looked at a variety of time-frequency displays
appropriate for audio signals
- All were implemented in terms of the short-time Fourier
transform (STFT)
- The classical spectrogram was reviewed, and its
performance on a speech sample was illustrated
- The reassigned spectrogram was used to shift spectrogram
energy based on instantaneous time (group delay) and instantaneous
frequency computation for each time-frequency cell
- A loudness spectrogram was defined based on a model of
time-varying loudness perception by Moore and Glasberg et al.
