World Wide Collaborations

Five years ago my best friend and I were at St. Mark's Coffee House in downtown Denver.  The two of us are composers and, in thinking of ways to collaborate, we came up with a peculiar idea: compose a piece together without knowing what each other is writing.  We decided on some initial ideas, like meter, number of measures, sometimes a theme, and went to composing our parts.  In the end we would put them together and see how well they fit.  To our surprise the results were quite unique, and musically successful.  Below are the only four coffee collaborations we finished.

I recently thought about exploring these ideas further, and came to realize it would be simple enough to use the World Wide Web. You and I can collaborate. Click the composer below to begin.
