---README--- β€œ#0515” For this piece, I made a granulizer in ChucK and a visual counterpart in Processing. At the beginning of the quarter, we talked about how we can use art, and more specifically sound, to create our own worlds. Drawing from many of the topics explored this quarter, this granulizer is a tool to help me to so. The granulizer itself sources from 7 different audio files. Using a MIDI controller, I control the probability a given file is chosen as a source. Additionally, I control the position in the audio file being sourced and the overall playback rate of the grains. Via OSC, data corresponding to these changes is sent to Processing so as to trigger a related visual change. Therefore, as the audio changes, the visuals do as well; they evolve and devolve as one. I learned a lot in the process of building and performing with this tool. This assignment was the first in which my creation required me to be β€œin the loop.” That is, the performance required, necessitated my decisions and involvement. Rather than planning out and structuring a composition, performance with this tool allowed me to feel and ride with the movement of the piece, discovery something new each time. I intend to approach my future musical creations in this manner. The experience of performing with a tool, not just presenting a composition, is exhilarating. Further, I hope to continue my exploration of visuals creation with Processing.
