With methods to extract and display this information, several applications become possible: we can superimpose the aspects of one player's expressive conception onto a performance by another; we can teach by feeling, musical feelings (rubato, energetico, etc.); we can use this information as part of the process of editing, for example, if two passages do not match exactly, we "cross-fade" the rubato from one onto that of the other. Current haptic display technology (the Moose, a motorized mouse) provides us with an ideal tool for such nuance display, employing as it does the same senses the performer uses to interact with their instrument.
