Stefania Serafin I was born in Venice, Italy where I received the "Laurea" degree (summa cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Venice, Italy, in 1996.
At the same time, I studied violin and music theory at the Music Conservatory B. Marcello of Venice .
In 1997 I moved to Paris where I worked in the Analysis-Synthesis team at Ircam.
There I obtained a DEA (master-like) degree in Acoustic, Signal Processing and Computer Science applied to Music.
In 1998-1999 I was working with Xavier Rodet at Ircam in the Analysis-Synthesis team.
In the spring 1999 I was visiting researcher at CCRMA working with Julius Smith.
Since 1999 I am a PhD student at Stanford in Computer Based Music theory and Acoustics.
Currently I am visiting faculty at the University of Virginia teaching sound synthesis and physical models.
