BETHANIA GARAGE ROLL BAR
Initially it was my dad who
insisted that I got a "real roll-cage" and even offered to pay for it — yeah, sometimes it's cool to have a stubborn dad.
So this beautiful roll-bar was custom made for me by Bethania Garage in North Carolina.  It's a double-hoop Shelby Cobra roll-bar made of polished steel.
Somehow the polished finish makes it look a bit like a regular chrome
style-bar.  However, this is as far as you can get from those
blingee rat-traps — this roll-bar is even race-approved and is
sturdy beyond belief.  In fact, the hoops seen in this photo are
just the tip of the iceberg — the entire unit is welded together
into one big piece, and mounts from underneath the chassis with 6
mounting points, fastened by 18 bolts.  It actually took my
mechanic and I 10 hours to install it, mostly because it required quite a bit of cutting, drilling and retrofitting (well, we also shared a six-pack of beer..).  Admittedly, at one point if felt like we had taken on an impossible task, but as I said earlier, I usually get more satisfied with things that I have to fight & struggle for — the harder the hunt, the more precious the prey ;^)
One other pleasant side-effect is how well this roll-bar stiffened up the ride.  Just amazing.
This piece also has some welded harnesses-tabs — ready for the
race-track.
