OBX RACING CATBACK SYSTEM

Initially I wanted a dual-pipe exhaust, but somehow I ended up with an OBX's single-exit model.  Actually, the dual ones weren't yet available back when I got mine.  But admittedly, I now wish I had waited for the dual to hit the market before buying... but that's what you get for being impatient.

Anyhow, I'm still fairly happy with it.  It's a beautiful piece — all polished stainless steel.  Although it's beyond me why they'd make them this way since all we see is the tip of the tailpipe, and unfortunately the tailpipe is the least attractive part of the system.

It has a sweet deep tone, not too loud, until you get up above the 5k rpm mark — that's when it starts to howl.

Since this is a full catback system with a larger diameter than stock, it opens the flow quite a bit.  With the headers, it's claimed to get about a 5-7 hp gain from bottom all the way to redline.  But of course its racy rumble-sound helps you think it delivers more power than it actually does.

Installation was certainly no plug & play — we even had to do some welding.  But fortunately I often get more happy with things that I have to fight & struggle for, and then when it finally works out, I forget about how difficult it all was, (or to paraphrase Nietzsche; the harder the hunt, the more precious the prey ;^)
