Guri Berg -- Work

-- MONUMENT --
One of Guri Berg's official commissions became the largest sculpture by any European female artist -- a 57-ton monument which hovers almost 7 meters (20 feet). The sculpture was a commission from the city of Kristiansand in Norway to celebrate its 350-year anniversary. Both the King of Norway and the Queen of Denmark attended the day of the unveiling (seen in the rightmost picture). Located at the end of the harbor where the city's main street ends, those pieces have become a popular tourist attraction and have also been featured in music videos, etc. The pieces are cast in the strongest concrete available -- a unique silica/concrete compound which was exclusively developed for offshore oil-rigs by Elkem in Norway -- Guri's pieces were the premiere work for this product.
