Program Notes:

Even on crowded roads every person is their own little oasis in a sea of traffic.  Often times while being stuck in traffic one cannot physically escape the present circumstances. However, the mind is free to roam and imagine.  The three movements of Traffic Islander mirror traffic patterns observed in everyday life.

I.  Rush Hour Reveries: When stuck in rush hour traffic there is a constant conflict between the body being chained to a static location and the mind being free to wander unencumbered by spatial limitations.

II.  Stranded on a Roundabout: Entering is sometimes the easy part, but what about exiting?  Trying to find a way out of a roundabout maze.

III. Final Approach: The home stretch ? the destination is within reach.  As the anticipation of finally arriving sets in, none of the obstacles encountered along the path seem to matter anymore.  It’s all part of the journey.
