Program Notes: |
Ah, the simple things in life. But not all things are as simple as they seem. We all have our own associations and contexts for everything. Simple things, if even noticed, can provoke a myriad of sentiments from different people almost more than any complex thing could. The more complex something is, the narrower its meaning tends to be to different people. For example, one person may see a lemon merely as a garnish put on the side of a plate, while someone else may think of the lemon tree in their grandfather’s backyard and all of the summers spent there. This composition explores five simple ideas. Are they the garnish, the triggered memory, or something else. |
