This piece reflects on world tension that was created in the wake of the September 11th 2001 attacks. As the instruments discuss and argue their concerns, the percussion embodies the constant and ever present threat of military action and the ominous consequences if understandings cannot be reached.
The pitches for Der Friedensstifter (the “Peace Negotiator”) were determined by words and phrases about terrorism, fear and revenge as well as hope, tolerance and survival. The texts were then mapped, based on a predetermined pitch grid, to notes.
