Chat et souris is a game of "cat and mouse" that is played out on the cello. The scene is a seemingly tranquil everyday backyard that becomes the backdrop for a battle of wits between two adversaries. Be they two or four legged, one can never be sure if it is safe to come out of hiding and give up one's position. But then again, that could be the plan of attack all along. Who is watching whom, and who is ultimately the predator and the prey? |
