The second week is off to a good start. At the colloquium tonight the incoming Masters and Doctoral candidates got a chance to give short presentations about their past and current work. Some people on the list were not present. I was excited by the presentations by my fellow MA/MST students. We all have different experiences and goals and I think it will be fun working with them the rest of the year. I gave a brief overview of my experience with computers and music and played a short piece I wrote a couple years ago. Some people told me afterwards that they really liked it. Some other people didn't seem to like it so much, but I think that's to be expected. Maybe someday I'll write something with universal appeal. In any case, it was the largest audience I've played one of my computer-based compositions for so I had a good time. I'm expecting the pace to pick up significantly in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to try my best to stay on top of things.
