The reading for this week gave me a chance to reflect on an algorithmic piece I've been working on lately. Artful Design gave me a lens through which I could examine my piece, Primal, from the standpoint of aesthetic design with respect to sound parameters and techniques.
This sound logo represents my last summer. It was very hectic and busy, much like the randomized bits and pieces centered around the pitches of a diminished chord, but in the middle of it all many highlights shone through to prove the season an incredible experience. The suspended chord in the middle emerges from the darkness surrounding it.
These two ChucKus try to preserve some sort of 5-7-5 design (especially the first one) to produce some interesting sound. The first gives us ethereal just-intoned intervals, while the second punctuates a pure interval with random puffs of noise.
