VR Music of the Spheres

Madeline Huberth

ScreenShot of System

No sound in space, you say? In this planetary system, there is! Pull back the curtain of what the "music of the spheres" may actually sound like (which, coincidentally, sound a lot like FM) in this VR Planetary System.

The relationship of the moons to the planet, as well as how fast the moons are rotating on their own axes, are mapped to FM parameters, creating a sonification of the system you're viewing. Planets+moons pulse brightly for every 'day' that passes on their surface. Every 10-15 seconds or so, the moons reposition themselves in relation to the planet, giving you a new soundscape to listen to. There are also semi-musical comets!
