For a layout of ports on Wiring boards you can take a look at its great reference on I/O Ports. Notice that there are seven ports each one with eight pins. Some ports are discrete (digital) and the others analog. There are also ISP and TWI ports used for special purpose. If you are not familiar with Wiring boards make sure you look and understand all parts and features. Arduino boards are similar to Wiring but somewhat smaller. Both have a USB port which acts as a serial interface to any modern computer and for getting dc power.
