  5. My Sound Logo!!
  6. It's called Smoke Room and I'll explain why

When I first thought of a sound logo, I wanted to be about myself. Not myself as an artist or a songwriter, but as just Joudi. I have Synesthesia, which means I hear things in color. So I look at my closet and almost everything I own is blakc, grey or dark olive green. Thus, I want for a sound that is black, grey and dark olive green. To me that sounded like smoke in a small dark room in the shape of a cube. I first tried to represent the black color by using a square oscillator but it didn't convey what I heard in my head. So I removed it and started representing the dark room, which to me sounded like low pass impulses of a sinewave (thankfully we recently learned about ADSR!). It started with deep beat pulses like a heartbeat or footstomps, I wanted it to feel like someone (or something) is approaching you. When it was time to represent the smoke I went for noise of course. I tried different filters to show movement until I settled for the low pass filter. Then it was time for me to make it sound as if someone is getting to know me. What would they hear? What's the first impression? What do I want the first impression to be? In my head, I wanted to sound perfect for when you enter a dark room. It's pitch black, you can't see anything. The first thing that hits you is the smoke creeping in (low-pass noise), then you start hearing the low pulses as you enter the room. Then your eyes adjust to the darkness so you start seeing the edges of the room through the smoke, which is what I tried to represent using the triangle oscillator after another low-pass noise for loop. Now it's time to leave the room so as you open the door, foot steps/pulses start slowing down in rythm until they disappear. That's the animation I imagined for my sound logo and I think it's probably the first time that I get the exact sound that I heard in my head so yay!

So in conclusion, we have three sections; the intro which is the noise and ADSR sine (smoke), the middle part which is the TriOsc and a more open low-pass on the noise and the peak of the footstomps (inside the room), and the outro which is the slowing down pulses/footstomps (exiting the room).
