I use the Red Hat Fedora distribution, and I find it to be excellent, containing almost everything I want. A critical advantage it has over other distributions is that the Planet CCRMA distribution (of music/audio free software) is based on it. The things I add beyond the standard core distribution(s) are described below. In reverse-chronological order (roughly), I log an overview of each software release I have installed or upgraded to.
