The Mavericks and new Xcode update hit me around November 1 2013, and while most things continued to worked, some things got broken, such as gitk and osascript. After some research that should not have been necessary, I figured out that I had to download and install (again) the Xcode command-line tools. This is basically an installation bug at Apple. You don't uninstall things when upgrading a system. There was no indication that functionality had been removed!
osascript still does not work.
