A typical windowed ideal lowpass filter response is depicted in the
following diagram:
- At this point in the design, we have a non-causal (zero centered) filter.
- In order to implement this in a real time situation, we need to
shift the filter by an amount equal to half its length.
- This shift in the time domain results in a linear phase term in the
frequency domain:
