research Jieun Oh received her Bachelor of Science in Symbolic Systems in 2008, and PhD in Computer-Based Music Theory and Acoustics in 2014. Research interests include new music-making paradigms (laptop and mobile phone ensembles), sonification/visualization, music cognition, and, more broadly, how music and technology change the way people interact. Her dissertation topic explores analysis and synthesis of laughter expressions. flute Jieun Oh has been playing flute since age 12, and studied with Melody Holmes at Stanford University from 2004 to 2013. Jieun has been part of Stanford Symphony Orchestra (2004-2008), and also played in the Stanford Wind Ensemble and the Stanford New Ensemble. In 2007 and 2008 she received the Humanities and Sciences Undergraduate Prize in Music Performance, and in 2011 received Carol and Peter Polk Graduate Music Award, presented by Stanford University Department of Music. She performed the Ibert Flute Concerto with the Stanford Philharmonia Orchestra in June 2012 as a Stanford Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition finalist. |
