Humans in the Loop

In the HAI reading, the idea of balancing product versus process is a very apt way of framing the debate over AI and it's impact on human society. I think with too much automation, just like with too much digital presence in our lives, society will have a reaction to and away from that automation. As seen in during the pandemic, with the resurgence of aesthetics recalling back to simpler times (i.e. cottagecore), I don't think the convenience of a ready made product can ever fully replace being involved in the process for people.

If society wouldn't be down for complete automation, it seems the humans in the loop system would become predominant which then brings about the question, what constitutes sufficiently "in the loop"? With the development of self-driving cars, would the current paradigm be representative of a humans in the loop system? On one hand most systems are not fully autonomous and require some amount of human input, but on the other hand the human input is not feeding into the learning loop of the system.

On a separate note, I thought Allison Parrish's work was amazing and am in awe of the different ways she thought to manipulate words like an art form. I'm super curious how this concept of vector spaces can translate in other languages. Are there any languages where such a framework would not apply? I can't currently think of any but am definitely interested in what the limits of such a system are. Are there any art forms where computation has yet to be applied to create generated wholly new pieces, like dance?
