Final Project - TCV in Chuck
For my final project in 220a, I am studying the process of decoding and converting a Time Coded Vinyl record (such as those made by Rane or Stanton) into a usable signal in the programming language Chuck.
Time coded vinyl (TCV) has been around for a few years now. This technology was developed to allow a person to manipulate mp3, flac, or wav files stored digitally on a computer with the rotation of a physical vinyl record. This allows the artist to work in a familiar and more tactile medium, vinyl records and a record player, while at the same time providing the many benefits of a digital media system; instant access, near limitless storage, wider selection of music, amongst other, emerging benefits such as relative speed control, looping, and remapping of physical values to digital parameters.
