Hayward Daily Review, 01/28/10

With their decision to allow unlimited corporate political advertising, the Supreme Court has hammered another, and perhaps final, nail into the American political system.  Political advertising is counterproductive in its essence because it plays strictly on the emotions of unsophisticated voters, stirring up fears without dealing with the underlying issues.  Coupled with a failing system of education, these ads are now free to distort the picture entirely.

The only proper solution is to eliminate political advertising.  If voters are unable to understand the unbiased information provided by the state on the issues, they should vote no.  Unless we replace emotional ads with serious discussion and true understanding, our political system will continue to fail to serve the interests of Americans.

Welcome to the corporatocracy.
