What is this? Tune in (via Zoom for now) for an online, multi-format weekly series encompassing artful design, music, coding, critical making with helpings of history and philosophy, and life check-ins for all participants. Each week we will explore a topic/prompt, have a conversation, and attempt a collaborative activity . No experience needed; it's free and all are welcome.
Why are we doing this? The aim of AD:TV (COVID-19 Editition) is to provide a space for intellectual/aesthetic/social nourishment, as we take measures to keep ourselves and others healthy by isolation; having more routines to anchor our daily lives might not be a bad thing right about now. AD:TV is hosted by Stanford professor and CCRMA faculty Ge Wang, co-produced with CCRMA Ph.D. student Kunwoo Kim, and brings research into artful design—tools, toys, games, musical instruments, VR, AI, ethics, aesthetics—more broadly to the community and public. (From Stanford News: "Fighting Isolation With the Art of Design and Computer Music")
What can we expect each week? Each gathering/"episode" will feature several segments, drawing from the following formats:
When is it happening and how do I sign up? Artful Design TV goes live Wednesday 1pm PDT (UTC-7). Season 1 began on April 1st, 2020 and ended on July 8th, 2020. In the meantime, to sign up for this series, please follow the "register" button below to register your name and an email to which notifications can be sent, time zone and preferences. (Please launch from this page each time, using the green "TUNE IN" button, as the Zoom URL may change.)
