BeatRider is an audiovisual game in which a user interacts with the ball on floating platforms to enter different stages of a song. Melodies and sounds are pseudorandomly generated based on which gate a user selects. The collectable items on the platforms randomly modify audio parameters, such as reverb and chorus intensity.
- Move the Ball With Left and Right Keys
- Jump with Space Key
Idea1:
My first idea for the final project is to utilize roots of a plant to produce musical notes based on branches and intersections. A user can drop water that travel through roots at the ground level as the plant continues to grow.
Idea2:
My second idea for the final project is to use infinite staircase to generate loops of audio where each step triggers new musical properties. A user can spawn spheres of different size that bounce on stairs to add layers of sound. I think this idea is too limited in its output and contains too many characteristics of the sequencer project.
Idea3:
My third idea for the final project is a racing game where a user collects rings on the course to gain new musical characteristics. It would be interesting for the soundscape of the surrounding environment to be spatialized. While racing against a ghost would easily allow multiple layers of sound to be created, I think it would be more fun for the game to support multiple players.
