Wow. This project took me on one heck of a rollercoaster. My original idea wanted to focus on a story between two humans, and the moments that might make up their relationship as time progresses. I chose robot characters in order not to explicitly apply gender to the experience, but I was surprised that others took the experience very literally in feedback. Ge’s enthusiasm on the idea of robots camping (as he said, what does that even mean for them?) struck me, and so I decided to lean into that a bit more for the final project. Narratively, I wanted to imply a world where these robots are doing “un-robotlike” things, i.e. forming a friendship, camping, plant collecting, etc., and explore that in their relationship. This expanded into a bunch of dialouge, features, and sounds (all from Chuck!) that I wanted to use to express the emotion throughout the experience. Ultimately, it is what you make of it! I hope it is a pleasant experience for everyone. I certainly enjoyed the final product, and am proud of what I was able to do.
Thank you to Ge, Julia, and the rest of the class for all the help and feedback! Your words and laughter made this class fun and memorable. I’ll look back fondly to these creative, mindblowing, and extremely chaotic times :)
