Summer workshop opportunity to study New Music Controllers
GOAL: Promote the engagement of women in the field of electronic and computer music.
HOW IT WORKS: One woman will be selected to attend the New Music Controllers Summer Workshop at CCRMA with a full tuition scholarship. A certificate will be given to the participant upon successful completion of the workshop.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP: In this workshop, you will learn how to construct novel musical controllers and sound art objects. Alongside physical interaction design, the workshop integrates programming, electronics, audio, and interactive music. Participants will learn how to use some of the basic tools of Maker community, including the Arduino platform, sensor technologies, communication with MIDI and Open Sound Control (OSC), and physical interface design.
ABOUT CCRMA: The Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA, pronounced 'karma') is an internationally renowned multi-disciplinary facility where composers and researchers work together using computer-based technology both as an artistic medium and as a research tool. https://ccrma.stanford.edu/about
HOW TO APPLY: All women enthusiastic about music and computer science are invited to apply. No previous background in computer music is required. Simply fill out the application form. You will be asked to provide your basic contact info and a short statement (about 250 to 500 words) describing why you are interested in this workshop. The application form can be found here.

• The recipients will receive a full tuition waiver to register for the New Music Controllers workshop. This scholarship does not include room and board, nor transportation expenses, and it does not have any cash value.
