Using embedded technologies, these domestic-tool-turned instruments are explored in public installations, community workshops, commissioned new compositions, and concert performance. Traditionally relegated to the private sphere, <em>Women's Labor</em> interrogates domesticity through public engagement and performative spectacle. In this concert, <em>fff&nbsp;</em>ensemble joins Ho in exploring ideas around women's work through aseries of reflections, performances, and sonic/visual tangents.<br /><div class="field field-type-text field-field-event-cost"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> FREE </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-intended-audience"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Open to the Public </div> </div> </div> <p><a href="https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/canceled-jocelyn-ho-fff-ensemble-womens-labor" target="_blank">read more</a></p> Tue, 03 Mar 2020 04:51:58 +0000 cobasica 5065 at https://ccrma.stanford.edu [CANCELED/STREAMING] Salt Itinerary | New Op-Era by the Miso Ensemble https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/canceledstreaming-salt-itinerary-new-op-era-miso-ensemble <div class="field field-type-date field-field-event-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Date:&nbsp;</div> <span class="date-display-single">Fri, 03/06/2020 - <span class="date-display-start">7:30pm</span><span class="date-display-separator"> - </span><span class="date-display-end">8:30pm</span></span> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-location"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Location:&nbsp;</div> CCRMA Stage </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-event-type"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Event Type:&nbsp;</div> Concert </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="200" height="200" alt="" src="https://ccrma.stanford.edu/sites/default/files/user/cobasica/salt-itinerary.jpg?1581458439" /> </div> </div> </div> <strong>Live Streaming:&nbsp;</strong><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBWr1JOYA_k"><strong>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBWr1JOYA_k</strong></a><em><br /> <br /> Salt Itinerary</em>&nbsp;multimedia opera transcends theatrical and music conventions. Gopala is uniquely situated to do this work, having graduated from Prof. Alan Black&rsquo;s speech synthesis lab at CMU and he is now part of Prof. Eddie Chang&rsquo;s excellent ECoG lab at UCSF. At UCSF there are patients who are undergoing surgery for epilepsy, and some of the patients allow recordings to be made as they listen and respond to sounds. One important question is how is speech represented in the brain. Gopala&rsquo;s work uses deep neural networks (DNNs) to reconstruct speech sounds from human ECoG data.
