In typical acoustic environments, audio captured by a microphone contains background noise, reverberation, and signals from interfering sources, making reliable speech capture a challenging problem. Some applications even require more than one user to interact with the system, e.g., gaming, which makes simultaneous speaker detection and localization crucial for enabling natural interactions. Distant multi-speaker speech capture often benefits from the use of microphone arrays that can provide enhanced speech signals using spatial filtering, or beamforming.<div class="field field-type-text field-field-event-cost"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> FREE </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-intended-audience"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Open to the Public </div> </div> </div> <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/bowon-lee-sound-source-localization-machines" target="_blank">read more</a></p> https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/bowon-lee-sound-source-localization-machines#comments https://ccrma.stanford.edu/crss/node/3783 Wed, 14 May 2014 15:21:43 +0000 malcolm 3783 at https://ccrma.stanford.edu Edward Large: Neurodynamics of Music Perception https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/edward-large-neurodynamics-of-music-perception <div class="field field-type-date field-field-event-date"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Date:&nbsp;</div> <span class="date-display-single">Thu, 05/22/2014 - <span class="date-display-start">4:00pm</span><span class="date-display-separator"> - </span><span class="date-display-end">5:45pm</span></span> </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-location"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Location:&nbsp;</div> Seminar Room </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-event-type"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <div class="field-label-inline-first"> Event Type:&nbsp;</div> Guest Lecture </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-image"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <img class="imagefield imagefield-field_image" width="200" height="135" alt="" src="https://ccrma.stanford.edu/sites/default/files/user/jorgeh/large.jpg?1400281373" /> </div> </div> </div> Dr. Edward Large (Department of Psychology, University of Connecticut and also President of the Society for Music Perception and Cognition) will discuss&nbsp;a dynamical systems analysis of mode-locked neural oscillation that predicts substantive universals in music perception and cognition.<br /><div class="field field-type-text field-field-event-cost"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> FREE </div> </div> </div> <div class="field field-type-text field-field-intended-audience"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> Open to the Public </div> </div> </div> <div class="og_rss_groups"></div><p><a href="https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/edward-large-neurodynamics-of-music-perception" target="_blank">read more</a></p> https://ccrma.stanford.edu/events/edward-large-neurodynamics-of-music-perception#comments https://ccrma.stanford.edu/crss/node/3786 Fri, 16 May 2014 23:17:54 +0000 jorgeh 3786 at https://ccrma.stanford.edu
