Please complete one of the following two exercises for next week (April 30)
- I. Plan a contrapuntal texture for two (or more) voices, one that might serve as the pre-compositional plan for a work (or passage of a work) that could be realized later. Be sure to consider differences in foreground and background, and ways in which a listener might attend to each voice at different times.
- II. Make a pre-compositional formal plan for a piece by overlaying multi-colored lines, each describing a particular parameter or musical issue. First, label the time line (x axis) of your graph. Then choose at least five parameters or issues you wish to describe. Make a creative and sensible overlapping of lines, a formal plan that might be realized in a future piece.
