Benade's DCM Kohlert oboe as described on AHB Instrument Collection file card:

"V. Kohlert makers, Graslitz, Austria," L.P. SN 9775.

This was left in the Case Physics building attic by D. C. Miller.  Illustrated in Miller's The Science of Musical Sound.  (Gift of R. S. Shankland to AHB)

The lower joint is almost identical with #2 of Plate VIII of Bate's The Oboe.  The upper joint has a C-D trill key for finger 3 and a ring-key for finger 2 for a proper C.

Cracked upper joint banded with steel wire (by AHB) about 1959.  The reed socket was also slightly deepened at that time.  It will play well at A-440, especially with a good reed as demo by Ken Decker
