David Bithell is a composer/performer based in Berkeley, California. As a doctoral student in composition at UC Berkeley, working with Edmund Campion and David Wessel, he has been very interested in the connections between music, theater, and language. As a trumpet player he studied primarily with Edwin Harkins at UC San Diego - whose performance art duo [THE] has been very influential on David's recent work. In the last year he has premiered works with live electronics by Ali Momeni and himself, played trumpet with the sfSoundGroup, the Berkeley Contemporary Chamber Players, and San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and has organized concerts of experimental music theater. He is one of the principal organizers and performers of the sfSoundSeries concerts in San Francisco.
