Assignment 2A - Getting acquainted with PD

  1. Select 2 'copy and pastable' 1-dimensional time based numeric data sets (examples, stock market, meteorological, etc) or a 2-dimensional set that you can segregate into two discrete files.
  2. Copy the data into a text file.
  3. Import the file into a an array in PD.
  4. Retrieve the data one element at a time.
  5. Map the data (scaled perhaps) to frequency and amplitude parameters in a pd oscilator.
  6. Do the same for the  comparison data set.
  7. Create a pd patch that allows you to hear both sets simultaneously.

Assignment 2B

  1. Select a biological or biomedical data set (or subset) with 2 or more dimensions.
  2. Design a method of sonifying the data - if you're daring try to mock it up in pd.
  3. Stay tuned for further instructions
