These CDs are part of what we dearly expect to be a continuous series of CDs
displaying the compositional production from the Center for Computer
Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). In this initial release, we have
made available two distinct volumes with music that best represents the
production from the recent period between 1992 and 1996. In all, twelve
composers and many musical tendencies are portrayed in the two CDs. While
much important research in music and acoustics has emerged from CCRMA over
the years, the CDs are a testimony to these composers' ability to
creatively employ many of the new techniques, and incorporate them into
their own musical idiom. We believe the music represented on these two CDs
is a direct consequence of the creative and cooperative atmosphere shared
by composers and scientists alike - having different backgrounds and
diverse fields of musical interest. We hope you'll enjoy the music on
these recordings.
