for filtering output of algorithms
- pitch scales
- cyclic over octaves
- simple: chromatic (m2), whole tone (M2), m3, M3, tritone
- asymetric: major, minor, pentatonic
- non-cyclic over octaves
- circle of fourths, fifths
- direction counts in Indian ragas, some Western minor modes (up is different
than down)
- rhythmic grids
- subdivided groupings (2, 3, 4... 5....7...)
- additive groupings are sometimes more complex (11, 15, etc.)
- polyrhythm
- building on listening for musical ideas, the assignment incorporates
programming of an "idea change'
