I go through 4 different changes in my file, each of which either grows or shrinks the effect of the auditory streaming illusion. I start out with the one instrument of the three having a louder gain than the others (100 db vs 80 db) and in its own channel, so that the illusion is obvious. The prominent voice then returns to 80 db, but I set the FMIndex and Ratio of the two other channels to 0. In these settings, the effect is less apparent. Then, the first and second instruments switch channels, so that the two instruments with the same FM settings are in different channels, one in the same channel with the odd-man-out instrument. The illusion is still quite apparent here. I then change the frequencies of all three instruments by increasing the distance between them, which magnifies the illusion. Finally, I skew the first instrument up 1.5 and skew the others down 1.5, which seems to have no effect on the illusion.
