My radioplay highlights a monologue from one of my favorite films of all time, Contact (1997). I also included some peaceful waves crashing along with one beautiful and uplifting song, "To Build a Home" by The Cinematic Orchestra. All vocal samples were recorded using my own voice.
In the scene, the protagonist (played by Jodie Foster)is an astrophysicist seeking funding from a company board to, essentially, search the cosmos for aliens. The first voice heard is meant to be one of the members of the board (pitch-shifted down for effect), who questions her resolve, and perhaps her sanity. The protagonist's responding monologue strikes the most inspiring tone, in my opinion, and simply offers a wonderful perspective on history, science, and life.
