Homework 3

For this assignment, I wanted to create an auditory illusion by grouping the sounds spatially. I used two pitch arrays that played a melody and countermelody, alternating against one another, that gradually increase in speed, creating a mental grouping, up until the halfway mark in which the music deconstructs and starts to occupy all four channels, as both melodies break down and begin to bounce randomly between the front and back channels, creating wholly new spatial groupings. It was amazing learning how we can create sounds that can replicate traditional instruments just by varying our set of parameters, and I limited each set of channels to one distinct sound in my code in order to emphasize those timbral qualities.
